What Is an Audio Guestbook, and Is It Worth It?
Photos keep the look. This keeps the sound.
Years from now, the photos will remind you how everyone looked. They won't play you your grandmother's laugh, your father's speech in his own words, or the blessing your godmother gave you at the end of the night when she'd had a glass of wine and meant every word.
An audio guestbook keeps those. It's the one part of the evening a camera can't capture, and it's the add-on we get the most emotional messages about afterward.
How it works
Luxelle's audio guestbook is a restored vintage rotary phone on a styled table. It works the way a guest expects a phone to work, which is the whole trick:
A guest picks up the receiver. They hear a greeting you recorded yourself, in your voice, saying whatever you want: thank them for coming, ask for advice, ask for a story.
They hear the tone, and they talk. No screen, no button, no instructions. Just a phone and a few private seconds. People say things into a phone they would never say to a camera.
They hang up. The message is saved. The next guest picks up.
After the event, you receive every recording as a complete, edited digital audio album to keep.
Who actually uses it
Everyone, but especially the people who avoid the photo booth. Grandparents and older relatives find a rotary phone far more natural than a touchscreen or a video camera; many of them grew up with one. Shy guests who won't pose will talk. Kids love it. And the friends who are loudest at the reception leave the best messages at 11 p.m.
At a quinceañera, it's the padrinos and the abuelos leaving advice for her fifteen. At a wedding, it's the toast from the uncle who wasn't on the program. At a corporate event, it's the candid feedback nobody puts in a survey.
What it needs from you
Very little. A small table, an outlet nearby, and a spot guests pass on their way somewhere: near the bar, beside the booth, at the entrance to the reception. Record your greeting before the event; we'll tell you how. We handle setup, styling, and breakdown with the rest of the booth.
It's available with any Luxelle experience, and it pairs naturally with the print booth: guests take their portrait, then pick up the phone.
Is it worth it?
Ask yourself one question: is there a voice at this event you'd pay to hear again in twenty years? If the answer is a name, it's worth it. If it's several names, it isn't a question.
